Ireland Engineering have a comprehensive engineering workshop which has been servicing the North Otago region for the past 4 years and prior to that the old company of D.a. Ireland for 50 odd years.

The engineering workshop currently employs 6 tradesmen from a boiler maker, fitter welders, and machinists.

There are two parts to the workshop, one being general and welding and the other set up with lathes, mills etc as the machine shop.

New Mill

The equipment that compliments the workshop are:

• 4 lathes up to 625mm max swing and 2 metres long
• 2 mills
• Large radial drill
• 2 bandsaws
• 50 ton press
• Brake press max 3mm plate 2.4 mts long
• Guillotine max 8mm plate 2.4 mts long
• Plate rollers
• Mobile welder – generator
• 5 ton overhead crane
• Punch and shears

The company is very versatile and able to undertake many different fields of engineering from:

Machine Shop

• Structural fabrication
• Plant maintenance
• Farm and agricultural installation, and repairs
• Design and install stairs and handrails
• Balastrading, stainless steel or carbon steel
• Servicing the marine industry, propellors, impellors, skegg repairs etc.
• All fields of precision and general machining
• Overhaul pumps, gearboxes, hammermills
• Qualified skf bearing technician
• Hydraulic ram refurbishment

We have qualified welders in MMA , tig, mig, stainless steel and alloy welding they currently hold 4711 welding tickets.

We are also the BOC distributor for North Otago for the exchange of gas cylinders.
